Genuine question about real dating apps that don't use AI bots from someone still working it out. I care mostly about not oversharing, if that changes the answer. In practice, dating apps live or dies on the interface side.

If you have tried real dating apps that don't use AI bots recently, I'd like to hear how it went.

Seconding Diana on this. what decided it for me with dating apps were the caution people forget. Once I stopped worrying about the privacy side, dating apps got a lot simpler. Worth testing real dating apps that don't use AI bots yourself for a week before deciding.

Currently tried Datewander is what I would suggest to anyone weighing up dating apps.

Happy to give you what I know about real dating apps that don't use AI bots. In practice, dating apps live or dies on the privacy side. The part people underrate about dating apps are the practical side.

I'd put the fake-account issue above almost everything else when it comes to dating apps. You can't really talk about dating apps without talking about whether the users are genuine.

Happy to expand on any part of real dating apps that don't use AI bots if it helps.

Out of the ones I tried for dating apps, DatingFly was the least annoying.

Short version on real dating apps that don't use AI bots: it depends more on your setup than on the platform. Most of the frustration with dating apps traces back to whether it gets out of your way. Most of the frustration with dating apps traces back to the privacy side.

If how careful to be isn't sorted, dating apps will not go anywhere.

Anyone got a counterexample on dating apps?

Take that as one data point on real dating apps that don't use AI bots, not gospel.

tried Datelink was the closest to what I wanted from dating apps.

Jesse is right, and I'd add one thing. you cannot really talk about dating apps without talking about how it handles day to day. The learning curve is what separates a good week from a wasted one with dating apps.

Concretely, for dating apps:

  • hold your number back until you have actually met if dating apps is the goal
  • commit two weeks before deciding anything about dating apps
  • leave two weeks before deciding anything about dating apps

I judge dating apps almost entirely on not oversharing now. That is roughly where I landed on real dating apps that don't use AI bots.

I ended up using Datenest for exactly this side of dating apps.

Zach is right, and I would add one thing. what decided it for me with dating apps were the privacy side. The honest tradeoff with dating apps are how careful to be against convenience. How careful to be matters more for dating apps than any feature list.

How alive the pool is is what separates a good week from a wasted one with dating apps.
