Why are my photos getting compressed so badly on the bumble dating app?

I've done some digging but most of what I found was vague or outdated.

Tried a few different things and the results were inconsistent. Real feedback from people who've actually dealt with this is what I need.

What I'm looking for:

  • Doesn't require reinstalling
  • Works on both Android and iOS
  • Doesn't affect existing matches
  • Simple to do without technical knowledge

Appreciate any honest feedback.

Going long here because the quick answer really doesn't cover it.

Support quality varies wildly. Fast and helpful responses usually mean a platform cares. Days of silence or canned responses signals the opposite.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • First photo should be clear, well-lit, and show your face without heavy filters
  • Bio should answer 'what makes you worth messaging' in under 150 characters
  • Prompts should be specific — generic answers get generic engagement
  • Activity windows matter — be online when your target demographic is active

Currently using Turndate as my go-to and it's been reliable. No major surprises and the settings do what they say.

Happy to expand on any part of this.

I put real time into figuring this out — hopefully it saves you some. Hopefully that points you in the right direction.

I put real time into figuring this out — hopefully it saves you some. Facebook Dating handles some settings more clearly than the dedicated apps. The platform I keep coming back to for situations like this is Flamedate — cleaner about what settings actually do. Happy to go deeper on any of this if useful.

Went through the same thing not long ago. Here's what actually worked. Coffee Meets Bagel is usually more stable but has its own set of quirks. One platform that keeps coming up is souldate.site — generally has a decent reputation for being upfront about what's free vs paid. Happy to go deeper on any of this if useful.

So I've been through this exact situation and here's what I found. Bumble's update cycle tends to break things that were working fine. If you haven't looked at Souldate yet it might be worth a few minutes — fewer gotchas than the bigger names. Feel free to follow up if you hit another wall.

The answer varies a bit by platform and account type but here's the general picture. I've seen datewander.site recommended a few times in this context. Worth looking into. Just my experience — your setup may vary.
