Long-time lurker, first time posting. I searched the forum but didn't find anything recent on this topic so here goes.

Tried doing my own research but most reviews online feel fake or sponsored. Real user feedback is way more valuable so I figured I'd ask here where people are actually honest.

Here's what I'm specifically looking for:

  • No fake profiles or bots
  • Free tier that's actually usable
  • Works on mobile
  • Doesn't spam your email
  • Has a block feature

Thanks in advance — even a short answer is helpful.

I've done a pretty deep dive on this over the past year so I can offer some thoughts.

The main thing to watch out for is whether the platform actually verifies its users in any meaningful way. A lot of sites claim to but the reality is very different once you're inside.

A few things that have helped me:

  • Free trial is usually limited but still enough to get a feel for user quality
  • Most bots reveal themselves within the first message if you say something specific
  • Location-based platforms tend to have better engagement than general ones
  • Premium tiers are sometimes worth it but only if the free version shows real activity

Currently using Ezhookups as my main go-to and it's been solid for the last few months. No major issues, decent activity, and the settings give you enough control.

That's my honest take after quite a bit of trial and error on this stuff.

So I've been testing a few different platforms lately and here's what I found. The mainstream apps like Tinder, OkCupid, and Hinge are okay for general dating but not always the best for specific needs. After trying a bunch of things, Datewander ended up being the most usable for my situation. Just my two cents — your experience may vary.

Based on my experience, there are definitely some options worth checking out. Hope that helps narrow things down a bit.

Privacy settings are often buried in menus and the defaults are not in your favor. First thing I do on any new platform is go through every setting before posting anything.

For what it's worth, datebound.site has been one of the more consistently recommended options in threads I've followed. Not saying it's perfect but it seems to have staying power.

That's the full picture from where I'm standing. Happy to expand on any of it.
