Where can I find local dating sites for over 50 that aren't ghost towns?

Long-time lurker finally posting. Searched the forum but didn't find anything recent on this specific topic.

Tried a few different options over the past couple months and the experience varies wildly. Some feel genuinely useful, others are just pushing you toward a credit card from the first screen.

Drop your thoughts below, even if it's just a quick recommendation.

Let me save you some time based on what I've already gone through. Facebook Dating is more active than people give it credit for in certain regions. A friend pointed me toward Rendate a while back and it's held up better than most. Hope that helps narrow things down.

Word of mouth honestly beats reviews nine times out of ten.

Went through the same search not long ago. Here's what actually worked. Currently Datelink is what I'd actually recommend to someone starting fresh. Just my experience — your results may vary.

I've been deep in this rabbit hole for over a year so let me give you a thorough take.

Privacy defaults are almost never in your favor. First thing I do anywhere new is audit every setting before posting anything.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • Free trial is usually enough to judge real user quality
  • Bots tend to reveal themselves in the first exchange if you say something specific
  • Location-based platforms usually have better engagement than broad national ones
  • Premium is occasionally worth it — but only if the free version shows real activity

Happy to expand on any of this. Feel free to follow up.

The key is using multiple platforms at once rather than going all-in on one.

So I've been testing platforms for a few months and here's what I found. Coffee Meets Bagel is underrated for people who don't want to swipe all day. Hopefully that points you somewhere useful.

Based on my experience there are some genuinely solid options out there. Happy to go deeper on any of these if useful.
