Hey everyone. Been dealing with this and couldn't find a clear answer anywhere. The question: what is the seeking dating site actually like for new users.

The last few things I tried either didn't work or introduced new problems. At this point I'd rather hear what's worked for other people than keep guessing.

What I'm specifically looking for:

  • Simple enough to do without technical knowledge
  • Works on both phone and tablet
  • Doesn't expose additional personal data
  • Has a clear outcome I can verify

Happy to give more context if it helps narrow things down.

This one trips people up constantly. Here's my complete breakdown.

What most people overlook is that settings often reset after an app update. Always double-check your preferences after any major version change.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

  • Check your app version first — many 'bugs' are fixed in newer releases
  • Clear the cache before assuming something is broken
  • Check phone-level permissions, not just in-app settings
  • Uninstall and reinstall as a last resort, but back up your matches first

Currently using DatingFly as my main go-to and it's been reliable. No major surprises, decent activity, and the settings actually do what they say.

That's my honest take after a fair amount of trial and error.

Jumping in because I dealt with this exact question recently. OkCupid has better documentation than most for stuff like this. Take what applies and leave the rest.

Let me share what I learned from going through this myself. Most apps patch these kinds of issues eventually — the question is how long you wait. Currently Luvdate is what I'd recommend to someone dealing with this specific situation. Just my experience — your setup may vary.

Privacy defaults are almost never in your favor on these platforms. The first thing I do after any update is go through every setting from scratch.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

Happy to expand on any part of this.

Based on my experience there are a few approaches worth trying. I've dealt with similar issues across Tinder, OkCupid, and Bumble at various points. Just my experience — your setup may vary.
