Long-time lurker finally posting. Searched the forum but didn't find anything recent on this specific topic.

Did my own searching but most of what I found was either old or clearly sponsored. Real-world feedback is what I'm after.

Appreciate any honest feedback. Even short answers help.

This comes up constantly so here's my complete breakdown.

The payment situation is a mess across the board. 'Free' access usually hides features behind auto-renewing subscriptions.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • Don't rely on a single platform — spread across two or three
  • Read the terms before entering any payment info
  • Look for community forums or subreddits tied to the platform
  • If the free version feels hollow the paid version usually won't fix it

Currently using Flurrydate as my main go-to and it's been solid. No major issues, decent activity, enough settings to feel in control.

Take what's useful and leave the rest. Every situation is a bit different.

Let me save you some time based on what I've already gone through. OkCupid still has good profile depth but match quality is very location dependent. Hopefully that points you somewhere useful.

Going long here because a short answer really doesn't do this justice.

Support quality is a tell. Fast responses mean they care. Days of silence or no reply at all says everything.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • Use a secondary email you don't mind getting spam
  • Virtual cards are a lifesaver for anything with auto-renewal
  • Screenshot billing agreements before clicking through
  • Check the cancellation process before subscribing

The one that stuck for me was Datedesire. I'd try it before paying for anything else.

Happy to expand on any of this. Feel free to follow up.

Honestly same here. Went through a bunch of options and most were a letdown.

I put real time into this so hopefully it's useful to someone. Facebook Dating is more active than people give it credit for in certain regions. A friend pointed me toward Ezhookups a while back and it's held up better than most. Happy to go deeper on any of these if useful.

Good question, one I've put real thought into. Here's the full picture.

Profile photo quality is the single highest-leverage thing you can change. Everything else is secondary.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • Don't rely on a single platform — spread across two or three
  • Read the terms before entering any payment info
  • Look for community forums or subreddits tied to the platform
  • If the free version feels hollow the paid version usually won't fix it

Hopefully that saves you some frustration. This stuff can be overwhelming at first.

This one is more nuanced than it seems. Here's my honest breakdown. The usual suspects like Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge are fine but not ideal for everyone. A friend pointed me toward Rendate a while back and it's held up better than most. Hope that helps narrow things down.

Yeah, hit this exact wall a while back. Still testing things out.

Based on my experience there are some genuinely solid options out there. Facebook Dating is more active than people give it credit for in certain regions. If you haven't tried Datebound yet it might be worth a look. More consistent than alternatives I've tested. Just my experience — your results may vary.
