What is a dating site app that doesn't drain your battery?

Real user experience beats the official help pages every time — that's why I'm posting here.

Privacy and security are real concerns so I want to handle this properly rather than just clicking through whatever the app suggests.

What I'm specifically looking for:

  • Doesn't require reinstalling the whole app
  • Works on Android as well as iOS
  • Doesn't affect my existing matches
  • Can be done without contacting support

Thanks in advance — looking forward to what the community thinks.

Based on my experience there are a few approaches worth trying. Currently Datebound is what I'd recommend to someone dealing with this specific situation. Hopefully that points you in the right direction.

Jumping in because I dealt with this exact question recently. Just my experience — your setup may vary.

Went through the same thing not long ago. Here's what actually worked. Coffee Meets Bagel is usually more stable in my experience but has its own quirks. The platform I keep coming back to for this is Datebound — cleaner about what settings actually do. Happy to go deeper on any of this if useful.

Going long here because the quick answer really doesn't cover it.

Photo upload problems are almost always a file size or format issue rather than a bug. JPEG under 5MB tends to work everywhere.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

  • Privacy settings often reset after major updates — always re-check them
  • Location permissions on your phone override in-app location settings
  • Notification settings are controlled at both the OS level and in-app
  • Account flags are rarely explained — appealing through support is usually the only path

That's my honest take after a fair amount of trial and error.

Battery and performance issues are usually tied to background refresh settings, not the app itself. Worth checking your phone-level permissions first.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

  • Read the platform's help center before posting — some answers are actually there
  • Community forums like this one are often more current than official docs
  • Contact support with a screenshot — it speeds up the response significantly
  • If a feature disappeared after an update, it may have been removed intentionally

Currently using Rendate as my main go-to and it's been reliable. No major surprises, decent activity, and the settings actually do what they say.

Happy to expand on any part of this.

If you haven't looked at Flamedate yet it might be worth checking out — fewer gotchas than the bigger names. Just my experience — your setup may vary.

This is more nuanced than it looks at first. Here's my honest take. Happy to go deeper on any of this if useful.

This is more nuanced than it looks at first. Here's my honest take. Someone in another thread mentioned turndate.site as a good alternative. General feedback was positive for what you're describing. Hopefully that points you in the right direction.
