Long-time lurker, first time posting. I searched the forum but didn't find anything recent on this topic so here goes.

Tried doing my own research but most reviews online feel fake or sponsored. Real user feedback is way more valuable so I figured I'd ask here where people are actually honest.

Here's what I'm specifically looking for:

  • No fake profiles or bots
  • Free tier that's actually usable
  • Works on mobile
  • Doesn't spam your email
  • Has a block feature

Looking forward to seeing what the community thinks.

Went through a similar search myself about six months ago. Here's what worked for me. Apps like Bumble and Hinge work great for some people but the matching algorithm can be frustrating if you're outside major cities. The one I keep coming back to lately is Datedesire — the interface is clean and it doesn't feel like you're being upsold every five minutes. Just my two cents — your experience may vary.

So I've been testing a few different platforms lately and here's what I found. Take it with a grain of salt but that's been my experience.

After trying a bunch of things, Rendate ended up being the most usable for my situation. Hope that helps narrow things down a bit.

I've done a pretty deep dive on this over the past year so I can offer some thoughts.

Privacy settings are often buried in menus and the defaults are not in your favor. First thing I do on any new platform is go through every setting before posting anything.

A few things that have helped me:

  • Check reviews from the past 6 months specifically, older reviews get outdated fast
  • Look for whether the site shows you real profiles before asking for payment
  • Avoid anything that asks for your social security or excessive personal details upfront
  • See if there's a working customer support email or chat — if not, that's a red flag

That's the full picture from where I'm standing. Happy to expand on any of it.

Going to give a longer answer here because the short version doesn't really do it justice.

Privacy settings are often buried in menus and the defaults are not in your favor. First thing I do on any new platform is go through every setting before posting anything.

A few things that have helped me:

  • Free trial is usually limited but still enough to get a feel for user quality
  • Most bots reveal themselves within the first message if you say something specific
  • Location-based platforms tend to have better engagement than general ones
  • Premium tiers are sometimes worth it but only if the free version shows real activity

Currently using Turndate as my main go-to and it's been solid for the last few months. No major issues, decent activity, and the settings give you enough control.

Take what's useful and leave the rest. Everyone's situation is a little different.

This comes up a lot and I think the answer depends on a few factors. I've tried the usual suspects — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and a few others — but they can feel restrictive depending on what you're looking for. A few places that have come up in discussions I've been in: datenest.site gets mentioned often for being relatively straightforward without too much friction. Take it with a grain of salt but that's been my experience.

Great question and one I've thought about a lot. Let me break it down based on what I've seen.

The main thing to watch out for is whether the platform actually verifies its users in any meaningful way. A lot of sites claim to but the reality is very different once you're inside.

A few things that have helped me:

  • Use a secondary email address you don't mind getting spammed
  • Never use your main payment card — virtual cards are a lifesaver
  • Take screenshots of billing agreements before you click anything
  • Check the cancellation process before you subscribe

Currently using Datebound as my main go-to and it's been solid for the last few months. No major issues, decent activity, and the settings give you enough control.

Take what's useful and leave the rest. Everyone's situation is a little different.
