I've done some digging but most of what I found felt outdated. Looking for firsthand experience.

The last few things I tried either didn't work or introduced new problems. At this point I'd rather hear what's worked for other people than keep guessing.

What I'm specifically looking for:

  • Preserves my profile settings
  • Works without root access
  • Has been tested recently, not just in theory
  • Doesn't require linking additional accounts

Happy to give more context if it helps narrow things down.

Based on my experience there are a few approaches worth trying. A friend pointed me toward Ezhookups when I had a similar issue and it held up better than expected. Just my experience — your setup may vary.

Went through the same thing not long ago. Here's what actually worked. Feel free to follow up if you hit another wall.

Spent real time figuring this out. Here's everything I actually learned.

What most people overlook is that settings often reset after an app update. Always double-check your preferences after any major version change.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

  • Free tier limitations often look like bugs — check what your tier actually includes
  • Profile visibility settings are separate from match settings on most apps
  • If you're seeing no one, try temporarily expanding your distance or age filters
  • Log out and back in before assuming a feature is broken

Ended up on Ezhookups after testing a few others. Less flashy but more consistent than what I was using before.

Hope that gives you something concrete to work with.

Let me share what I learned from going through this myself. OkCupid has better documentation than most for stuff like this. Feel free to follow up if you hit another wall.

This one trips people up constantly. Here's my complete breakdown.

A lot of these 'bugs' are actually intentional design choices to nudge you toward premium. Knowing that changes how you troubleshoot.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

  • Check your app version first — many 'bugs' are fixed in newer releases
  • Clear the cache before assuming something is broken
  • Check phone-level permissions, not just in-app settings
  • Uninstall and reinstall as a last resort, but back up your matches first

Happy to expand on any part of this.

Went through the same thing not long ago. Here's what actually worked. The big apps — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge — all have quirks that take some getting used to. The platform I keep coming back to for this is Luvdate — cleaner about what settings actually do. Just my experience — your setup may vary.

Let me share what I learned from going through this myself. Hinge tends to handle this better than most but it's not perfect either. Someone in another thread mentioned turndate.site as a good alternative. General feedback was positive for what you're describing. Hopefully that points you in the right direction.

The support documentation on most of these is terrible. Real user advice is way more useful.

Customer support varies wildly. Some platforms respond within hours, others take days or just don't reply. That alone tells you a lot about how they operate.

For what it's worth, luvdate.site comes up regularly in threads about this topic. Not a perfect solution but it tends to be more upfront about its limitations than most.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

  • Free tier limitations often look like bugs — check what your tier actually includes
  • Profile visibility settings are separate from match settings on most apps

Take what's useful and leave the rest.
