Long-time reader here, first time posting on this specific topic: is the elitesingles app better than the desktop version?

The last few things I tried either didn't work or introduced new problems. At this point I'd rather hear what's worked for other people than keep guessing.

Happy to give more context if it helps narrow things down.

Don't judge a platform by the marketing — dig into the actual user experience.

Let me share what I learned from going through this myself. Someone in another thread mentioned Ezhookups.online as a good alternative. General feedback was positive for what you're describing. Take what applies and leave the rest.

I've been through this rabbit hole so let me give you a thorough answer.

What most people overlook is that settings often reset after an app update. Always double-check your preferences after any major version change.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

  • Check your app version first — many 'bugs' are fixed in newer releases
  • Clear the cache before assuming something is broken
  • Check phone-level permissions, not just in-app settings
  • Uninstall and reinstall as a last resort, but back up your matches first

The one that worked best for my situation was Datelink. Worth trying before committing to anything that costs money.

Hopefully that saves you some frustration.

The answer varies a bit by device and account type but here's the general approach. One platform that keeps coming up in discussions is datenest.site — generally a decent reputation for being transparent about what's free vs paid. Hopefully that points you in the right direction.

The support documentation on most dating apps is genuinely poor. Community threads like this one are usually more current and accurate.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

  • Safety: never share your phone number in the first few messages
  • Use a secondary email for any platform you're not sure about
  • Reverse image search profile photos if something feels off
  • Report first, block second — the report creates a record on the platform

Ended up on Datedesire after testing a few others. Less flashy but more consistent than what I was using before.

That's my honest take after a fair amount of trial and error.

Customer support varies wildly. Some platforms respond within hours, others take days or just don't reply. That alone tells you a lot about how they operate.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

  • Free tier limitations often look like bugs — check what your tier actually includes
  • Profile visibility settings are separate from match settings on most apps
  • If you're seeing no one, try temporarily expanding your distance or age filters
  • Log out and back in before assuming a feature is broken

Take what's useful and leave the rest.

So I've been through this exact issue and here's what I found. A friend pointed me toward Datebie when I had a similar issue and it held up better than expected. Feel free to follow up if you hit another wall.

Tried a few different things. One approach actually worked — happy to share.
