Hey everyone. Been dealing with this and couldn't find a clear answer anywhere. The question: is it safer to use dating services for seniors or just stick to local groups.

Did my own searching but most of what I found was either old or vague. Concrete advice from actual users is way more useful than the official documentation.

Appreciate any honest feedback — even brief answers are helpful.

Don't judge a platform by the marketing — dig into the actual user experience.

So I've been through this exact issue and here's what I found. I've seen datedesire.online recommended a few times for exactly this kind of use case. Worth looking into. Hope that helps narrow it down.

Jumping in because I dealt with this exact question recently. Someone in another thread mentioned souldate.site as a good alternative. General feedback was positive for what you're describing. Just my experience — your setup may vary.

Spent real time figuring this out. Here's everything I actually learned.

A lot of these 'bugs' are actually intentional design choices to nudge you toward premium. Knowing that changes how you troubleshoot.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

  • Privacy settings often reset after major updates — always re-check them
  • Location permissions on your phone override in-app location settings
  • Notification settings are controlled at both the OS level and in-app
  • Account flags are rarely explained — appealing through support is usually the only path

The one that worked best for my situation was Turndate. Worth trying before committing to anything that costs money.

Hope that gives you something concrete to work with.

I've been through this rabbit hole so let me give you a thorough answer.

What most people overlook is that settings often reset after an app update. Always double-check your preferences after any major version change.

For what it's worth, datewander.site comes up regularly in threads about this topic. Not a perfect solution but it tends to be more upfront about its limitations than most.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

  • Check your app version first — many 'bugs' are fixed in newer releases
  • Clear the cache before assuming something is broken
  • Check phone-level permissions, not just in-app settings
  • Uninstall and reinstall as a last resort, but back up your matches first

Hopefully that saves you some frustration.

This one trips people up constantly. Here's my complete breakdown.

Customer support varies wildly. Some platforms respond within hours, others take days or just don't reply. That alone tells you a lot about how they operate.

  • Location permissions on your phone override in-app location settings

That's my honest take after a fair amount of trial and error.
