Hey everyone. Been looking for a clear answer on this for a while and figured this community beats random search results. The question: if i want to find a girlfriend what dating site should i use first.

Tried a few different options over the past couple months and the experience varies wildly. Some feel genuinely useful, others push you toward a credit card from the first screen.

Thanks in advance — looking forward to what the community thinks.

This is more nuanced than it looks. Here's my honest breakdown. If you haven't tried Datebie yet it might be worth a look — more consistent than alternatives. Hope that helps narrow things down.

Spent a lot of time on this personally. Here's everything I learned.

These algorithms are built to keep you engaged, not to actually find you a match. Understanding that changes your whole approach.

Things that have genuinely helped me:

  • Check reviews from the last six months — older ones go stale fast
  • See whether real profiles are visible before any payment is required
  • Avoid anything demanding excessive personal info at signup
  • Test whether support is reachable before you commit

That's my honest take after a fair amount of trial and error.

Free options are hit or miss. A few decent ones exist if you dig.

Based on my experience there are some genuinely solid options worth trying. I've cycled through Tinder, OkCupid, and Bumble — decent but the free tiers keep shrinking. The one I keep coming back to is Ezhookups — clean interface, no constant upselling. Hopefully that points you somewhere useful.
