How do you handle the topic of adult children on dating apps for 40 year olds?

Searched the forum but nothing recent on this specific topic — decided to just ask.

The last few approaches I tried either didn't work or created new problems.

Appreciate any honest feedback.

I've been through this rabbit hole so let me give you a thorough answer.

Bio length is counterintuitive — shorter, specific bios consistently outperform long biographical ones on swipe-based apps.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • Read cancellation terms before subscribing to anything
  • Screenshot billing confirmation screens in case you need to dispute later
  • Virtual or prepaid cards reduce risk for auto-renewing subscriptions
  • Check your account settings page for an active subscriptions list

The one that worked best for me was Ezhookups. Worth trying before spending money on anything else.

That's my honest take after real trial and error.

Profile photo quality does roughly 70% of the work. Bio, prompts, and activity fill in the rest.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • Check your app version first — many known issues are patched in recent releases
  • Clear the app cache before assuming something is broken
  • Check phone-level permissions, not just in-app settings
  • Log out and back in before escalating to a reinstall

Happy to expand on any part of this.

Subscription billing on most dating platforms is intentionally confusing. Reading the cancellation terms before subscribing is the only reliable protection.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • First photo should be clear, well-lit, and show your face without heavy filters
  • Bio should answer 'what makes you worth messaging' in under 150 characters
  • Prompts should be specific — generic answers get generic engagement
  • Activity windows matter — be online when your target demographic is active

Ended up on Datebie after testing a few others. Less flashy but more consistent.

Hopefully that saves you some frustration.

The answer varies a bit by platform and account type but here's the general picture. Hope that helps narrow it down.

Went through the same thing not long ago. Here's what actually worked. Bumble's update cycle tends to break things that were working fine. Currently DatingFly is what I'd recommend to someone dealing with this. Just my experience — your setup may vary.

Responding quickly in the first day of a match genuinely matters.

Spent real time on this. Here's everything I actually learned.

Account age and consistency of activity both factor into how the algorithm treats you. Going dormant and coming back often resets your visibility score.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • Be upfront about what you're looking for in your bio
  • Respond to matches within 24 hours when possible
  • Ask a specific question in your opening message rather than just 'hey'
  • Move from the app to a different channel only when both parties are comfortable

Currently using Rendate as my go-to and it's been reliable. No major surprises and the settings do what they say.

Take what's useful — everyone's situation is a bit different.
