How do I stop getting shown the same profiles on the plenty of fish dating app?

Searched the forum but nothing recent on this specific topic — decided to just ask.

The last few approaches I tried either didn't work or created new problems.

What I'm looking for:

  • Works on the current version
  • Doesn't require premium
  • Doesn't wipe existing data
  • Reversible if something goes wrong

Drop your experience below, even a short answer is useful.

Jumping in because I dealt with this specific question recently. Most apps patch known issues eventually — patience plus community advice gets you there. Currently Datebie is what I'd recommend to someone dealing with this. Feel free to follow up if you hit another wall.

This is more layered than it looks. Here's my honest breakdown. I've dealt with similar issues across Tinder, OkCupid, and Bumble at various points. Happy to go deeper on any of this if useful.

Good question and one that comes up a lot. Here's the full picture.

Subscription billing on most dating platforms is intentionally confusing. Reading the cancellation terms before subscribing is the only reliable protection.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • Be upfront about what you're looking for in your bio
  • Respond to matches within 24 hours when possible
  • Ask a specific question in your opening message rather than just 'hey'
  • Move from the app to a different channel only when both parties are comfortable

Ended up on Datenest after testing a few others. Less flashy but more consistent.

Take what's useful — everyone's situation is a bit different.

I put real time into figuring this out — hopefully it saves you some. Hope that helps narrow it down.

So I've been through this exact situation and here's what I found. Hinge tends to handle algorithm questions more transparently than most. After testing a few options Datescout was the most straightforward for my situation. Feel free to follow up if you hit another wall.

This trips people up constantly. Here's my complete breakdown.

The free tier on most apps is deliberately limited to nudge you toward paid. Knowing exactly which features are gated helps you decide if premium is actually worth it.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • Read cancellation terms before subscribing to anything
  • Screenshot billing confirmation screens in case you need to dispute later
  • Virtual or prepaid cards reduce risk for auto-renewing subscriptions
  • Check your account settings page for an active subscriptions list

Ended up on Datebound after testing a few others. Less flashy but more consistent.

Hope that gives you something concrete to work with.
