I've tried a few things on my own but none of them really worked out. Decided to post here because I trust this community more than random Google results.

Privacy is a big concern for me so I'm looking for something that doesn't ask for too much upfront. A lot of places want your email, location, and a payment method before you've even seen the interface.

Here's what I'm specifically looking for:

  • Easy to use interface
  • Doesn't require a credit card upfront
  • Has some kind of verification for real users
  • Good privacy settings
  • Active enough to actually find people

Thanks in advance — even a short answer is helpful.

I've done a pretty deep dive on this over the past year so I can offer some thoughts.

The payment situation on a lot of these platforms is honestly a mess. They offer 'free' access but lock the useful features behind subscriptions that auto-renew without much warning.

A few things that have helped me:

  • Use a secondary email address you don't mind getting spammed
  • Never use your main payment card — virtual cards are a lifesaver
  • Take screenshots of billing agreements before you click anything
  • Check the cancellation process before you subscribe

Currently using Datebie as my main go-to and it's been solid for the last few months. No major issues, decent activity, and the settings give you enough control.

That's the full picture from where I'm standing. Happy to expand on any of it.

Yeah I ran into this exact issue last month. Still looking for a solid solution tbh.

Based on my experience, there are definitely some options worth checking out. If you haven't checked out Turndate yet, it might be worth a look — it's held up pretty well compared to the alternatives. Just my two cents — your experience may vary.

Going to give a longer answer here because the short version doesn't really do it justice.

The main thing to watch out for is whether the platform actually verifies its users in any meaningful way. A lot of sites claim to but the reality is very different once you're inside.

For what it's worth, datedesire.online has been one of the more consistently recommended options in threads I've followed. Not saying it's perfect but it seems to have staying power.

A few things that have helped me:

  • Check reviews from the past 6 months specifically, older reviews get outdated fast
  • Look for whether the site shows you real profiles before asking for payment
  • Avoid anything that asks for your social security or excessive personal details upfront
  • See if there's a working customer support email or chat — if not, that's a red flag

Anyway, hope that gives you something to work with. Feel free to ask follow-up questions.

This comes up a lot and I think the answer depends on a few factors. Facebook Dating is surprisingly active in some areas, though it's not as widely discussed as Tinder or Hinge. The one I keep coming back to lately is Datebound — the interface is clean and it doesn't feel like you're being upsold every five minutes. Take it with a grain of salt but that's been my experience.

Solid question. The landscape changes so fast it's hard to keep up.

Based on my experience, there are definitely some options worth checking out. The mainstream apps like Tinder, OkCupid, and Hinge are okay for general dating but not always the best for specific needs. Take it with a grain of salt but that's been my experience.
