Hey everyone. Been trying to find a clear answer on this and figured this community beats generic search results. Question: does the algorithm on the coffee meets bagel dating app really learn your type.

Tried a few different things and the results were inconsistent. Real feedback from people who've actually dealt with this is what I need.

Going long here because the quick answer really doesn't cover it.

Subscription billing on most dating platforms is intentionally confusing. Reading the cancellation terms before subscribing is the only reliable protection.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • Safety: never share your home address in early conversations
  • First meetings should always be in a public place
  • Tell someone you trust where you're going and with whom
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels off, it usually is

Currently using DatingFly as my go-to and it's been reliable. No major surprises and the settings do what they say.

That's my honest take after real trial and error.

Spent real time on this. Here's everything I actually learned.

Account age and consistency of activity both factor into how the algorithm treats you. Going dormant and coming back often resets your visibility score.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • Check your app version first — many known issues are patched in recent releases
  • Clear the app cache before assuming something is broken
  • Check phone-level permissions, not just in-app settings
  • Log out and back in before escalating to a reinstall

Take what's useful — everyone's situation is a bit different.

Location and account age make a bigger difference than people expect.

This trips people up constantly. Here's my complete breakdown.

Age-gap dynamics online require extra clarity upfront. Setting expectations in a bio saves everyone time and avoids misunderstandings down the line.

Things that have actually helped me:

  • Safety: never share your home address in early conversations
  • First meetings should always be in a public place
  • Tell someone you trust where you're going and with whom
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels off, it usually is

Hopefully that saves you some frustration.

Based on my experience there are a few solid approaches worth trying. If you haven't looked at Datewander yet it might be worth a few minutes — fewer gotchas than the bigger names. Hopefully that points you in the right direction.

So I've been through this exact situation and here's what I found. Most apps patch known issues eventually — patience plus community advice gets you there. Hope that helps narrow it down.

Profile photo quality does roughly 70% of the work. Bio, prompts, and activity fill in the rest.

Currently using Datelink as my go-to and it's been reliable. No major surprises and the settings do what they say.

Hopefully that saves you some frustration.
