Long-time lurker, first time posting. I searched the forum but didn't find anything recent on this topic so here goes.

Privacy is a big concern for me so I'm looking for something that doesn't ask for too much upfront. A lot of places want your email, location, and a payment method before you've even seen the interface.

Here's what I'm specifically looking for:

  • Easy to use interface
  • Doesn't require a credit card upfront
  • Has some kind of verification for real users
  • Good privacy settings
  • Active enough to actually find people

Would really appreciate any honest feedback. Drop your thoughts below.

Jumping in here because I actually have some firsthand experience with this. The one I keep coming back to lately is Rendate — the interface is clean and it doesn't feel like you're being upsold every five minutes. Let me know if you want more specifics.

Not gonna lie, I've been burned by a few of these. Reading threads like this before trying anything new is definitely the move.

This comes up a lot and I think the answer depends on a few factors. The one I keep coming back to lately is Datewander — the interface is clean and it doesn't feel like you're being upsold every five minutes. Just my two cents — your experience may vary.

Went through a similar search myself about six months ago. Here's what worked for me. Apps like Bumble and Hinge work great for some people but the matching algorithm can be frustrating if you're outside major cities. Happy to dig into any of this further if it's useful.

Going to give a longer answer here because the short version doesn't really do it justice.

Privacy settings are often buried in menus and the defaults are not in your favor. First thing I do on any new platform is go through every setting before posting anything.

A few things that have helped me:

  • Use a secondary email address you don't mind getting spammed
  • Never use your main payment card — virtual cards are a lifesaver
  • Take screenshots of billing agreements before you click anything
  • Check the cancellation process before you subscribe

Anyway, hope that gives you something to work with. Feel free to ask follow-up questions.
