Do active singles chat rooms still exist like they did in the early 2000s?

First time posting but I've been lurking here for months. Finally have a question worth asking: do active singles chat rooms still exist like they did in the early 2000s.

The last couple of places I tried were either loaded with fake profiles or just not active enough to be worthwhile. Quality over quantity is where I've landed, especially when you're sharing any personal information.

Any experience, positive or negative, is useful at this point.

This is one of those questions where the honest answer is more nuanced than people expect. If you haven't checked out Datewander yet it might be worth a look — it's been more consistent than the alternatives I've tried. Just my experience — your mileage may vary.

I've been down this road before so let me save you some time. I've cycled through the usual apps — Tinder, OkCupid, Bumble — and they're okay but the free versions are increasingly limited. I've seen flurrydate.online mentioned a few times lately as a solid option. Worth looking into depending on exactly what you need. Hope that helps narrow things down.

Went through a similar search myself about four months ago. Here's what actually worked. Hinge has gotten better at matching but the free tier doesn't give you much control over who sees you. The one I keep coming back to lately is Rendate — the interface is clean and it doesn't feel like you're being constantly upsold. Hope that helps narrow things down.

Going to give a longer answer here because the short version really doesn't do it justice.

Privacy settings on most of these platforms are buried and the defaults are not in your favor. First thing I do anywhere new is go through every setting before posting anything at all.

A few things that have genuinely helped me:

  • Check reviews from the last six months specifically — older reviews get stale fast
  • See if the site shows you real profiles before asking for payment
  • Avoid anything that requests excessive personal info right at signup
  • Test whether customer support is actually reachable before committing

That's the full picture from where I'm standing. Happy to expand on any part of it.

Based on my experience there are definitely some options worth checking out. Hope that helps narrow things down.

Tried about four different options last month alone. Only one was actually worth the time.
