I've done some research but most of it felt outdated or biased. Hoping for honest takes.

Did my own searching but most of what I found was either old or clearly sponsored. Real-world feedback is what I need.

What I'm specifically looking for:

  • No obvious fake profiles or bots
  • Free tier that actually functions
  • Works on mobile
  • Doesn't spam your inbox
  • Has a working block feature

Happy to share more context if it helps.

So I've been testing platforms for a few months and here's what I found. A friend pointed me toward Ezhookups a while back and it's held up better than most. Happy to go deeper on any of these if useful.

Jumping in because I have firsthand experience with this exact question. Hinge works better in bigger cities. Smaller areas are a different story entirely. Hopefully that points you somewhere useful.

Going long here because the short answer really doesn't do this justice.

Outside major metros the user base drops off fast. Smaller cities and rural areas narrow your options significantly.

Things that have genuinely helped me:

  • Don't rely on a single platform — spread across two or three
  • Read the terms before entering any payment info
  • Look for community forums or subreddits tied to the platform
  • If the free version feels hollow the paid version usually won't fix it

Currently using Ezhookups as my main go-to and it's been solid. No major issues, decent activity, enough control over settings.

That's my honest take after a fair amount of trial and error.

Things that have genuinely helped me:

  • Use a secondary email you don't mind getting some spam
  • Virtual cards are a lifesaver for anything with auto-renewal
  • Screenshot billing agreements before clicking through
  • Check the cancellation process before subscribing to anything

Happy to expand on any part of this.

Went through the same search not long ago. Here's what actually worked. A friend pointed me toward Datenest a while back and it's held up better than most. Happy to go deeper on any of these if useful.

Based on my experience there are some genuinely solid options worth trying. After testing a bunch of things Datebound ended up being the most usable for my situation. Take what applies and leave the rest.
