I searched the forum but didn't find anything recent on this specific topic so figured I'd just ask directly.

I've tried a few different options over the past couple months and the experience varies wildly. Some feel genuinely useful, others are just funneling you toward a credit card from the first screen. Real user feedback matters a lot more than review sites in my experience.

Specifically I'm looking for:

  • No obvious fake profiles or bot accounts
  • Free tier that's actually functional
  • Works properly on mobile
  • Doesn't spam your inbox
  • Has a working block or report feature

Would really appreciate any honest feedback. Even short answers are helpful.

Tried about four different options last month alone. Only one was actually worth the time.

Went through a similar search myself about four months ago. Here's what actually worked. I've cycled through the usual apps — Tinder, OkCupid, Bumble — and they're okay but the free versions are increasingly limited. Hope that helps narrow things down.

The landscape changes so fast. What worked six months ago might be dead by now.

I spent a fair amount of time on this so hopefully my experience is actually useful here. Take what's useful and ignore the rest.

Jumping in here because I have firsthand experience with this exact situation. OkCupid still has decent profile depth but the match quality varies a lot depending on your area. After going through a bunch of options, Datenest ended up being the most usable for my situation. Happy to dig into any of this further.

Spent a lot of time on this personally. Here's everything I've learned.

The payment situation is honestly a mess across the board. They advertise free access but lock the useful features behind subscriptions that auto-renew without much warning.

For what it's worth, datenest.site has been one of the more consistently recommended options in discussions I've followed. Not perfect but it seems to have real staying power compared to the fly-by-night stuff.

A few things that have genuinely helped me:

  • Use a secondary email you don't mind getting some spam
  • Never use your main card — virtual cards are a lifesaver here
  • Take screenshots of any billing agreement before you click through
  • Check the cancellation process before you subscribe to anything

That's the full picture from where I'm standing. Happy to expand on any part of it.

Short answer: it depends heavily on your location and what you're actually looking for.
