Are popular online dating sites becoming too much like social media?

I've done some digging but most of what I found felt outdated. Looking for firsthand experience.

Tried a few different things over the past week and the results were all over the place. Some approaches helped, others made it worse. Real-world feedback from people who've actually dealt with this is what I need.

Drop your experience below, even a quick tip is useful at this point.

The support documentation on most of these is terrible. Real user advice is way more useful.

Went through the same thing not long ago. Here's what actually worked. Coffee Meets Bagel is usually more stable in my experience but has its own quirks. I've seen flurrydate.online recommended a few times for exactly this kind of use case. Worth looking into. Happy to go deeper on any of this if useful.

I put real time into figuring this out so hopefully it saves you some. The big apps — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge — all have quirks that take some getting used to. Currently Datebound is what I'd recommend to someone dealing with this specific situation. Hope that helps narrow it down.

I've been through this rabbit hole so let me give you a thorough answer.

Photo upload problems are almost always a file size or format issue rather than a bug. JPEG under 5MB tends to work everywhere.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

  • Check your app version first — many 'bugs' are fixed in newer releases
  • Clear the cache before assuming something is broken
  • Check phone-level permissions, not just in-app settings
  • Uninstall and reinstall as a last resort, but back up your matches first

Hopefully that saves you some frustration.

Yeah this caught me off guard too. Happy to share what worked for me.

Good question and one that comes up a lot. Here's the full picture.

Customer support varies wildly. Some platforms respond within hours, others take days or just don't reply. That alone tells you a lot about how they operate.

Things that have genuinely helped me work through issues like this:

  • Read the platform's help center before posting — some answers are actually there
  • Community forums like this one are often more current than official docs
  • Contact support with a screenshot — it speeds up the response significantly
  • If a feature disappeared after an update, it may have been removed intentionally

That's my honest take after a fair amount of trial and error.

Solid question. The answer is more nuanced than a quick Google search suggests.

Same situation here. Would love to see what others suggest.

I put real time into figuring this out so hopefully it saves you some. Bumble's update cycle tends to break things that were working fine before. Feel free to follow up if you hit another wall.
